General Provisions
The Fremont Public Library District (the Library) offers Internet access to library patrons via public computers and a wireless network. The Library cannot be held responsible for Internet content. Internet users, not Fremont Public Library, are responsible for the security of their own equipment and personal information. Library users access the Internet at their own discretion and risk.
The Internet contains material that may be inappropriate for viewing in a public setting; users are expected to be sensitive to that fact and act responsibly and with respect for others. If a displayed image or text results in a public disturbance, Library staff reserve
the right to end the Internet session. (See Patron Behavior and Social Media Policy.)
Any unlawful use of the Internet, including but not limited to laws concerning copyright, fraud, hate crime, privacy or obscenity, is strictly prohibited. Patrons who have been identified as making unlawful use of the Internet will be banned from using the Library's
Internet resources and subject to legal action.
Any tampering with the Library’s computer equipment, networks or systems is prohibited.
Youth Access to the Internet
Internet computers located in the Youth Services Department are filtered for content that is inappropriate for children or illegal. Please note Internet filters are imperfect and the Library cannot assume responsibility for the content found on the Internet even in a filtered environment. Parents are responsible for the actions of their children and are encouraged to participate with them in their Internet use.
Wireless Access to the Internet
The Fremont Public Library District provides unencrypted/unsecure wireless access for public Internet use. The bandwidth of our patron internet is shared across our computers and wireless access points is shared and limited. All patrons utilizing our wireless system should act in accordance with the Fremont Public Library Internet and Patron Behavior policies. FPLD does not provide software or hardware technical support.
Social Networking
The Fremont Public Library District may interact with patrons via the library’s online social platforms for educational, cultural, civic and recreational purposes. The Library declares that its social media accounts are non-public forums which are only intended to
be a place for the Library to make announcements to inform the residents.
Any “Comments” presented in response to a Library post strictly represent the opinions of the individual who posted such comment and they do not represent the opinions, speech or policy of the Library. The Library has the right to delete all comments that:
BY CHOOSING TO COMMENT ON THE LIBRARY’S SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS, PATRONS AUTOMATICALLY AGREE TO THESE RULES.
