Library Assistant

Do you enjoy meeting new people? Do you love the library and what it has to offer? The Fremont Public Library is seeking an energetic, tech-savvy, and friendly Library Assistant to deliver excellent customer service to patrons in our community. We are a large district library with the culture, service model, and community support of a neighborhood library. 

The primary responsibilities of this position include assisting patrons of all ages with locating and requesting materials, providing basic troubleshooting for library technology (printers, copiers, fax machines, etc.), greeting and directing patrons, and providing basic Help Desk services (including registering patrons for programs, handing out craft kits, and answering reference questions). If you are enthusiastic about working with the public and have a strong interest in reading, watching movies and TV, or listening to music, this position would be an excellent fit. 

This position is year-round, part-time non-exempt, and regularly scheduled 16 hours per week.  

The current schedule we seek to fill is Mondays 5pm-9pm Tuesdays 5pm-9pm, Wednesday 5pm-9pm, and Sundays 1-5pm. However, schedules may vary due to library needs, and this employee may be scheduled anytime the library is open including nights and weekends.   

$16-18 per hour depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Personal computer fluency in Microsoft Office in a Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in searching the Internet and using apps and mobile devices.
  • Friendly and patient, with an enthusiasm for working with the public.
  • Willing and able to speak in front of an audience to introduce a performer.
  • Able to consistently follow directions with multiple steps.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn.
