Librarian I - Youth Services
Do you enjoy working with children of all ages? Do you love the library and what it has to offer? The Fremont Public Library is looking for a forward-thinking, community-driven librarian to join our Youth Services team.
Fremont is a large district library with the culture, service model, and community support of a neighborhood library. The person in this role will visit schools and community events to promote library services, host programs at the library, select and maintain materials for children's collections, and staff our service desks. A successful candidate will be passionate about promoting literacy, be a dynamic public speaker, have confidence in facilitating and planning children’s programming, and maintain a strong interest in reading children’s literature. Spanish language skills are desired.
Performs professional librarian activities, including, but not limited to: reference, reader’s advisory, programming, collection development, promotion and maintenance, and training in the use of library resources.
Qualifications: Hold a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or be close to finishing your degree. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Library/Information Science will also be considered.
Hours: This position is year-round, full-time non-exempt, and regularly scheduled 40 hours per week. Hours vary and may be scheduled any time the library is open, including about one night per week and about one weekend per month.
Pay: Hiring Wage $26.00/hour or $54,080 annually DOQ.
