Back when the new library building was built in 2000, a portion of the second floor was set aside as an unfinished “shell” space with anticipation that community growth would find us needing this space in about 20 years. The library’s district indeed has grown, and we are still walking on the original carpet in most of the building some 22 years later. It’s time to replace the carpet and furnish the shell space!
The Board and Library Administration have been saving money from each year’s budget in anticipation of this work, which will be in two phases in 2023. The first phase took place from March to May, and the rest is scheduled to begin in August and end by October. The end result will combine all books for adults on the second floor and provide unique individual study areas for remote and freelance workers and students. The first floor will feature an improved teen area, give middle schoolers a place of their own, and provide new seating and collaborative spaces for all ages. Details about the project and the impact it will have on the availability of materials and study spaces will be posted here on this page as work progresses.

Thank you for your patience during the remodel. We were pleased to stay open as best we could and opened up spaces again as soon as it was safe to do so.

The Youth Services Staff Workroom was also renovated during this time. It can now accommodate more employees, which we anticipate needing once we expand the Middle School and High School "Teen" areas of the library.
