Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of the library's operations. They perform a wide variety of tasks including homebound delivery, story time help, disc & book repair, shelf-reading, newspaper indexing, photocopying, computer class and program assistance, ESL and Math tutoring, and more!

Current volunteers can click on the button below to log in to the Volunteer Information Center.

Volunteer of the Year!

Every year Fremont Public Library presents the Mike Steinberg Volunteer of the Year Award to the volunteer (or volunteers) who have given significant service to the library. We present the Volunteer of the Year Award in spring at our Volunteer Appreciation luncheon. The plaque containing the names of the recipients is displayed in the lobby of the library.

2017 Volunteer of the Year: Kathy Logan

Kathy started in 2015, volunteering in the Circulation Department. Since she had a flexible schedule and was a quick study, Kathy became our main substitute volunteer for Circulation, often serving more hours in a month than our regular weekly volunteers. She now serves as our sole afternoon pick list volunteer, freeing up Monday afternoons for the Circulation Associates to have their weekly meeting. Margarita Olmos, when nominating her for this award said, “Kathy is awesome...she rocks...I want her cloned!” We are very proud to honor Kathy Logan with the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award.

Are you interested in volunteering at Fremont Public Library? Here's what you need to know.

Adult volunteers must be at least 18 years old or have graduated from high school. Teen Volunteers must be 13 years old and complete the Teen Volunteer application on the Teen page.

The average volunteer works about one 2-hour shift per week; we ask that new volunteers commit to at least six months, as we require references and background checks to be run.

You do not need to be a Fremont cardholder to volunteer.

Please note: The library is not able to supervise those looking to complete their court-ordered community service.
