Highlights include:
- Ethel Untermyer, who led the movement to establish the Lake County Forest Preserves
- Bess Bower Dunn, the county's first designated historian
- Clara Colby, the first woman to officially vote in Illinois
- Janice Christensen, test pilot in the Women's Air Force Service Pilots of World War II.
