The Fremont Public Library launched a seed library in March of 2017.
Many of the seeds come from the Fremont Township community garden and a nonprofit group called Seed Savers Exchange, as well as from area residents.
Seeds are available to all comers in the spring. You do not need a library card to borrow from the seed library; just return seeds harvested from your plant at the end of the growing season for other gardeners to use next year.
Beginning January 27, 2018, the library will accept open-pollinated or heirloom seeds (no hybrids, since they don't breed true!) for the second season of the Seed Library. Make sure each seed packet is labeled with who collected it, the year it was collected, and the genus and species or common name, and the variety (if known).
