Gary Midkiff explores the current state of affairs and our potential paths between our country and North Korea.
At the end of WWII, the U.S. found itself responsible for the southern half of the Korean peninsula while Russia was responsible for the northern half. There has not been real peace on the peninsula since. Although South Korea flourished under our protection with one of the 14 largest economies in the world and an effective representative government, North Korea became a third-world country ruled by a brutal family dictatorship dependent on Communist support.
As North Korea has worked to develop nuclear weapon capability it has become a focal point of U.S. foreign policy for the current President and his three predecessors, one of whom referred to it as part of "an axis of evil". What is the status of our relations with North Korea today? What is the likely direction of our future relations with them? Gary Midkiff explores the current state of affairs and our potential paths with both North and South Korea.
