German historian and political scientist Anette Isaacs offers a fascinating update on the successes and challenges that evolved from Germany's decision to open its borders to over a million refugees.

The world looked at Germany incredulously when in the Summer of 2015, Chancellor Merkel opened up the borders and let over one Million refugees and asylum seekers, mostly from war-torn Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq into the country.

Equipped with a sturdy social net and a pressing moral obligation to help those in need, Germany seemed to be a new promised land for many of the refugees.

But what has happened since? How has the refugee crisis been dealt with during these past three years? Join German historian and political scientist Anette Isaacs for a fascinating update on the successes and challenges that evolved from Chancellor Merkel’s fateful decision.
