Attention all gardeners!
Do you save seed from your vegetable, herb, and flower garden every year? Want to share the bounty with your neighbors, and try out some of their favorites? Join us at our first annual seed swap. Bring your open-pollinated or heirloom seeds (no hybrids, since they don't breed true!) to trade.
Make sure each one is labeled with who collected it, the year it was collected, and the genus and species or common name, and the variety (if known).
We will collect donations for the second season of the Fremont Public Library Seed Library at the end of the event, if you care to donate some of what remains.
Small envelopes will be available for sharers, if you bring your seeds in bulk packages.
The Fremont Public Library District encompasses parts of Mundelein, Grayslake, Hawthorn Woods, Libertyville, Round Lake, Round Lake Park, and Wauconda. To find out if you live in our district, please call 847-566-8702. We honor library cards from any other public library in Illinois as well as a few from southern Wisconsin. The library is located in Mundelein, half a mile north of Rte.176 on Midlothian Road.
